On the mat I am all calm. Measured breath, steady hands, the kind of quiet that makes a room settle. That is the part everyone gets to see.
Off it is a different pace. Still slow, still sure, but pointed right at you. I like taking my time. I like when you notice I have decided the evening is going to slow down.
It is never loud. It does not need to be. A look held a second too long, a calm that leans in closer than you expected. You feel led without me raising my voice.
The people who get close will tell you the calm is real, and so is what runs under it. I keep both. I just show one of them in public.
The rest, the version most people never get, is waiting on my private side. If you have read this far, you already know you want it.
